Meditation is being recommended by more and more physicians as a way to prevent, slow or at least control the pain of chronic diseases like heart conditions, cancer, infertility etc. It means, besides the mental and spiritual benefits, meditation is capable of healing your body.

Why do we meditate?

Meditation is fast gaining recognition world wide. Doctors all over the world recommend it.

A study shows that people who underwent meditation - training produced more antibodies to a flu vaccine than people who did not meditate and meditators showed signs of increased activity in areas of the brain related to positive emotion, as compared to people who did not meditate.

What happens when you meditate?

Your brain functions on a small amount of electricity, much like a computer. This electrical current vibrates and pulses at various speeds.

When you are wide awake, with your eyes focused, your brain vibrates 20 times per second- what scientists call 20 cycles per second or the Beta frequency.

Beta - 14-21 cycles per second (vibration)
When you have a light sleep or meditation, you are in Alpha range- this level is the level we use to activate our minds.

Alpha - 7-14 cycles per second.
Other levels are,

Theta - 4-7 cycles per second – deeper sleep.
Delta - 0-4 cycles per second- unconscious.

Russian sports scientists conducted an experiment dividing world-class athletes in 4 groups, just prior to the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid,  New York.

      1st group did 100% physical training.   

      2ndgroup did75% physical            training and 25% mental training.

     3rd  group did 50% physical training and 50% mental training.

     4th group did  25% physical training and 75% mental training.

The experiment proved that the 4th group had shown greater improvement  than group 3, because they did 75% mental training.

The group 3 showed more improvement than group 2.
The group 2 showed more improvement  than group 1.

During mental rehersal, athletes create mental images of the exact movements they want to emulate in their sport.You too can use the same principle to improve your life through visualization.

How to do meditation?

b When you get ready for the meditation switch on the audio and listen to the song.

b Lie down or sit comfortably, and close your eyes, start meditation.

b If you are alone use earphone for effective meditation.

b If you sit, clasp your fingers and cross your legs and put your legs on a mat or a carpet.

b Please try to sit on a wooden chair.

b You won’t be able to feel on your first try, but the second or third effort you will definitely.
